Cornelia Pieper, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, met the Turkish Minister of Culture Ertugrul Günay yesterday (9 March) at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in Berlin.

The talks focused on German-Turkish cultural relations, which were described as excellent by both sides. Cornelia Pieper invited Minister Günay to visit Dresden to view the “Türckische Cammer” (Turkish Chamber) and continue the talks. Minister Günay accepted the invitation.

The issue of the Sphinx of Hattusa was also touched upon. A commission of experts led by the Federal Foreign Office is due to travel to Ankara in mid-April for talks on this matter.
