“People on the Move – Festival of Foreign Cultural Policy”

From 18 to 26 April 2009 the Federal Foreign Office, together with its partner organisations, will present a varied programme of events in the latter “temporary art-space” reflecting the wealth of cultural-relations activity abroad.

From 18 to 26 April 2009 the Federal Foreign Office, together with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), its Berlin Artists-in-Residence Programme, Deutsche Welle, the Goethe-Institut, the House of World Cultures, the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations and the Temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin, will present a varied programme of events in the latter “temporary art-space” reflecting the wealth of cultural-relations activity abroad.

At a press conference on Thursday (16 April, 11 a.m.) Werner Wnendt, deputy head of the Federal Foreign Office's Cultural Directorate-General, the Ukrainian author Yuri Andrukhovich and the Argentinian composer Marcelo Toledo will present the programme of the “Festival of Foreign Cultural Policy. The two artists will report on the significance of international cultural relations for their life and work

With the series of events entitled ”People on the Move – Festival of Foreign Cultural Policy“ the Federal Foreign Office wants to bring cultural relations into the German capital.

The festival comprises a broad range of events, including film evenings, lectures, round-table discussions, performances and concerts. For example, short films by Iranian and German film students will be shown, prominent guests of the DAAD's Berlin Artists-in-Residence Programme will draw a ”portrait“ of Berlin, author Jonathan Franzen will give his views on the German language, Cécile Wajsbrot, Tanja Dückers and Oksana Sabushko will discuss the traces of memory, and there will be a night-long showing of African video art.
