Foreign Minister Steinmeier to meet with international refugee and migrants’ organisations to discuss enhanced international cooperation on the refugee crisis

Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has invited António Guterres, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Peter Sutherland, the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for International Migration, William Swing, the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and Elhadj As Sy, the Secretary General of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, to a round table in the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin on Wednesday, 4 November 2015.

The aim of the meeting is to intensify international cooperation in the current refugee and migrant crisis. The participants will also discuss further options for action.

The four invitees, together with former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, had earlier written an open letter on the subject of the refugee crisis to various European politicians.
