Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle spoke on the phone today (31 October) with US Ambassador Philip Murphy. After the call, Westerwelle issued the following statement:
“I am shocked and saddened by the many victims of Hurricane Sandy and by the wide swath of destruction it has cut along the East Coast of the United States.
I have reassured Ambassador Murphy of Germany’s sympathies and solidarity.
With their unshakeable optimism and sense of public spirit, people in New York and elsewhere in the United States will overcome this heavy blow and come out even stronger.”
