Minister of State Pieper bids farewell to Polish Ambassador to Germany

15.08.2012 - Press release

On the invitation of Cornelia Pieper, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, a farewell celebration is being held in Freyburg/Unstrut this week in honour of Marek Prawda, the Polish Ambassador to Germany.

After six years of service, Ambassador Prawda is taking his leave of Germany to become Poland’s new Ambassador to the EU in Brussels.

Minister of State Pieper issued the following statement in Berlin today:

“Today German-Polish relations are better than ever before, they have become deeply rooted in people’s hearts. For example, only with France can we boast so many city twinnings.
In Freyburg, Ambassador Prawda will meet with his political friends and companions. And if you asked me why we are meeting in Freyburg and not in Berlin, my answer would be that Marek Prawda, among his many other qualities, is an expert on good German wine. Therefore, and rightly so, a grapevine will be named after him on Saturday.”
