Foreign Minister Westerwelle and Minister of State Pieper attend Manufacturing Day at the Federal Foreign Office

27.02.2012 - Press release

On Tuesday (28 February) the Federal Foreign Office is hosting a Manufacturing Day in cooperation with the German Manufactory Initiative – Handmade in Germany and the Deutsche Standards publishing house. The aim of the initiative is to help manufacturing companies – many of them small and medium-sized – to tap new foreign markets with their well-established high-quality products.

During the morning the expert conference Handmade in Germany will take place with high-ranking representatives of manufacturing and other business as well as the fields of politics and diplomacy. It will focus amongst other things on external economic promotion for German manufacturing.

In the afternoon Minister of State Cornelia Pieper will present the book “Handgemacht – die schönsten Manufakturen Deutschlands” during a reception open to the press. The book will be made available to, for example, German Embassies around the world to help them promote high-quality manufacturing products from Germany.

In the evening, before the conference dinner, Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle will be present for a joint photocall with the initiators of the German Manufactory Initiative – Handmade in Germany.
