Human Rights Commissioner to visit the United States, Guantánamo and Canada

Markus Löning, Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy, left today on a week-long trip to the United States and Canada.

The main purpose of Löning’s visit to the United States is to discuss the Guantanamo prison camp, where he will travel on Tuesday. Before and after his trip, he will exchange views on the matter with government representatives and members of civil society in Washington.

In Canada Löning will hold a number of bilateral talks with government representatives, members of civil society as well as parliamentarians.
