Federal Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle issued the following statement today (19 August) on the terrorist attack on the British cultural institute in Kabul:
“I am appalled at the brutal attack on the British cultural institute in Kabul. We stand in resolute solidarity with our Afghan and British friends.
I condemn in the strongest possible terms this heinous attack on a symbol of peaceful intercultural cooperation. We will not allow the forces of terror to sway us from our path of cooperation or impede the handover of responsibility.”
The German Embassy in Kabul is in close contact with Afghan authorities and the British Embassy in Kabul. Thus far there is no evidence to suggest that the victims of the attack included German nationals.
