The Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid, Markus Löning, is setting off tomorrow (15 March) for Strasbourg.

There he will have talks with Thorbjorn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thomas Hammarberg, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, and Jean-Paul Costa, President of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). The talks will focus on issues such as the human rights situation in Belarus, Russia, the countries of the southern Caucasus, Turkey and the situation of the Roma in Europe, as well as the implementation of ECHR rulings in the member states of the Council of Europe.
