Federal Foreign Office Support for crisis prevention, Stabilisation and post-conflict peacebuilding

18.02.2019 - Article

The Federal Foreign Office supports projects and measures by German and international NGOs that seek to manage current conflicts, prevent potential conflicts and stabilise the situation following a conflict.

Wherever possible, far-sighted policies must ensure that crises do not break out in the first place. Channels of communication can be kept open in conflict situations through mediation and diplomatic endeavours. After a ceasefire, a peace dividend must be achieved quickly. This peace dividend must be tangible for people in crisis-hit areas and thus create faith in political progress beyond the zero-sum game of violence.

Statement by Foreign Minister Gabriel on the Adoption of the German Government's Guidelines on crisis prevention, conflict managemtn and peacebuilding on 14th June 2017.
