Since 24 February 2022, the Russian Federation has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine which violates international law.

In close coordination with its European and international partners, Germany is providing Ukraine with economic, financial, political and humanitarian support as well as with weapons.

The German Government has worked with its partners to impose comprehensive sanctions against Russia. Most recently, the EU adopted an eighth sanctions package.

Germany is supporting Ukraine on its path towards the European Union. Ukraine was granted EU candidate country status on 24 June.
