Ambassador Christian Buck has been the Special Envoy for Libya of the Federal Foreign Office since July 2022.
Ambassador Christian Buck, Director-General for Political Affairs (Africa, Latin America, Near and Middle East) at the Federal Foreign Office, has been Special Envoy for Libya of the Federal Foreign Office since July 2022.
He represents Germany in international dialogue formats supporting the United Nations in Libya. Germany created the international framework for resolving the conflict in Libya with the Berlin Process in 2019. Christian Buck was Germany’s Ambassador to Libya and, as Director for the Near and Middle East and North Africa, he was involved in the preparations for the Berlin Conferences on Libya in 2020 and 2021.
