Statement by the Federal Foreign Office on the train crash in Turkey
A Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson issued the following statement today (9 July) on yesterday’s train crash in the Turkish province of Tekirdağ in which a passenger train with 362 people on board derailed:
We are saddened by the reports of a serious train crash in northwest Turkey that has claimed over 20 lives. More than 120 people are still being treated in hospital.
We extend our sincere condolences to the victims of the accident and the bereaved. We wish the many people injured a swift recovery.
