Minister of State Niels Annen will travel to Brussels today (31 May) for political talks. Among other officials, he will meet High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and EU Commissioners Frans Timmermans and Johannes Hahn, as well as Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid and Deputy Secretary General of NATO Rose Gottemoeller.
Prior to his departure, Minister of State Annan said the following:
In view of the current foreign policy challenges, it is more important than ever to keep the EU united and to respond to international crises with a common European voice.
At the same time, it is in our own fundamental interest that the transatlantic alliance remains strong despite all the difficulties and that we ensure NATO is well positioned for the future.
