The Sudanese people ousted the dictator Omar al-Bashir through peaceful demonstrations. The army supported them in this. We call on the transitional military council in the Sudan not to turn back halfway, but rather to live up to its responsibility and hand over power to a civilian-led government. The faster this happens, the sooner reconstruction can begin in the country. Germany supports the endeavours by the African Union and the United Nations and encourages the negotiating partners to reach an agreement without delay.
