Foreign Minister Heiko Maas issued the following statement today (26 August) on the death of John McCain:
He stood for an America that is a close and reliable partner. An America that shows its strength by assuming responsibility for others, that stands by its values and principles, also in difficult times – and that sees itself as a world leader on this basis. We will remember his voice.
