Minister of State Michelle Müntefering issued the following statement today (26 March) before heading off to Qatar:
During the next few days, I will be taking part in the opening of the new National Museum of Qatar. In the last few months, we have seen a lively debate in Germany on the role of museums in society and the right concepts for museum practice. For that we need to look at the rest of the world. I am looking forward to discussing innovative approaches to the work of museums with experts and cultural policy-makers from many different countries in Qatar – we can learn a lot from each other.
Michelle Müntefering, Minister of State for International Cultural Policy at the Federal Foreign Office is visiting Qatar from 26 to 28 March. Among others, she will have talks with the head of the ILO Project Office in Doha, in course of which she will discuss the development of workers’ conditions and other issues.
During her visit to Qatar, the Minister of State will also meet students as well as decision-makers from the world of politics, business, civil society, academia and sport to discuss women empowerment.
