18.09.2018 - Press release

On Wednesday, 19 September 2018, Federal Foreign Office Minister of State for International Cultural Policy Michelle Müntefering will travel to Dublin to join Ireland’s Culture Minister Madigan in re-opening the Goethe-Institut in the capital following comprehensive building and renovation work.

Beforehand, the Minister of State will visit the prestigious Trinity College and talk to students there about German-Irish relations and the special importance of cultural and academic exchange. The trip is one of a series of high-ranking reciprocal visits against the backdrop of the growing intensity of exchange between Germany and Ireland in recent months.

Prior to her departure, Minister of State Müntefering said:

I am very much looking forward to my first official visit to Ireland. The focus will be on the opening of the Goethe-Institut’s new premises and the visit to the prestigious Trinity College, one of the oldest universities in the world.

Talks with the students will centre on how we can work together to shape a European future and on the role culture can play in this.
