Foreign Minister Maas travelling to Ukraine on Monday (24 August)

A Federal Foreign Office spokesperson issued the following statement today (21 August):

Foreign Minister Heiko Maas is setting off on a one-day trip to Kyiv on Monday, 24 August, Ukraine’s Independence Day. On arrival, Foreign Minister Maas will meet his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba. A press conference is scheduled to take place following talks in the Foreign Ministry.

Afterwards Foreign Minister Maas will have further political talks with, among others, Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal. The issues discussed will include the next steps to be taken within the Normandy format to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine as well as the Ukrainian Government’s reform agenda.

Foreign Minister Maas will arrive back in Berlin in the evening.
