Foreign Minister Heiko Maas on the Polish Constitutional Tribunal ruling
Foreign Minister Heiko Maas gave the following statement to the Funke media group today (8 October) on the ruling by the Polish Constitutional Tribunal:
If a country takes a political decision to be part of the EU, it must also ensure that it implements the agreed rules in full. Being a member of the European Union means pursuing shared values, benefiting from a strong internal market and speaking with one voice. But it also means adhering to common rules that form the foundation of the European Union – with all the consequences. The Commission has our full support in its task of ensuring that European law is applied throughout the EU.
