Foreign Minister Maas on the 100th anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO)

12.03.2019 - Press release

Foreign Minister Heiko Maas issued the following statement today (12 March) on the 100th anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO):

The International Labour Organization is a prominent partner for us in our efforts to foster decent work around the world. For the past 100 years, the ILO has promoted the global social partnership, and Germany in particular can, and does, contribute a great deal to this social dialogue. Our economy today is more closely integrated in global supply and value chains than almost any other. It thus behoves us all the more to make the global economic order sustainable in social respects as well. It is for this reason that we are working together with the International Labour Organization on the urgent task that is making global supply chains fair and just. The ILO’s support for the implementation of our National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights is invaluable.
