The High Level Conference on the Lake Chad Region will take place at the Federal Foreign Office on 3 4 September 2018, co hosted by Germany, Nigeria, Norway and the United Nations. The Lake Chad region, where the borders of Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon converge, is the scene of one of Africa’s biggest humanitarian crises. The Islamist group Boko Haram continues to terrorise the population. 2.3 million people have been displaced within their home countries, more than 200,000 have crossed borders in their plight, and more than 10 million people are reliant on humanitarian aid.
