We share the UN Secretary‑General’s concerns regarding current developments in Libya. Oil production and revenues must remain under the control of the internationally recognised Libyan authorities and benefit the entire Libyan population. This is also stipulated in UN Security Council Resolution 2259 (2015). We urgently call for steps to be taken to de‑escalate the situation now.

We will continue to support the efforts of UN Special Representative Ghassan Salamé and the implementation of his UN Action Plan towards an inclusive political process.
