Statement by the Federal Foreign Office on the deadly knife attack in the West Bank

27.07.2018 - Press release

A Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson issued the following statement today (27 July) on the deadly knife attack in the Adam (Geve Benyamin) settlement east of Jerusalem:

Yesterday evening, a Palestinian attacker stabbed one Israeli and injured two others in the Adam settlement in the West Bank. We condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. We would like to convey our sincere condolences to the victim’s family and to wish those injured a speedy recovery.

The fact that a Hamas spokesperson described the attack as a “heroic act” is despicable – all the more so since this incident adds further grist to the mill of those who have no interest in achieving a solution to the Israeli Palestinian conflict.

The Federal Government is committed to overcoming this spiral of violence and hatred and to maintaining the prospect of a two state solution that will enable all Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and dignity.
