Federal Foreign Office on the missile attacks on Israel from Gaza
A Federal Foreign Office spokesperson issued the following statement today (4 November) on the missile attacks on Israel from Gaza:
The German Government condemns the latest missile attacks on Israel’s civilian population from Gaza in the strongest possible terms. We call on all militant groups to halt their attacks on Israel. The events at the weekend threaten to lead to an escalation of the already fragile situation.
Only a political solution to the conflict will enable all Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security on a durable basis. At the same time, improvements in the humanitarian situation in Gaza are more urgently needed than ever before. The German Government, together with its partners, are continuing to play their part.
Background information:
During the last week, at least ten missiles were fired at Israel from Gaza. At least one Palestinian was killed in a retaliatory strike by Israel.
