Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel and Israeli Ambassador Jeremy Issacharoff to open the exhibition, Beyond Duty – Diplomats Recognised as Righteous Among the Nations

26.01.2018 - Press release

To mark this year’s Day of Remembrance for the Victims of National Socialism, Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel and Israeli Ambassador Jeremy Issacharoff will open the exhibition, Beyond Duty – Diplomats Recognised as Righteous Among the Nations, at 4.00 p.m. on Monday, 29 January.

During the Second World War, diplomats from various countries helped Jewish people and were subsequently recognised for their work by the State of Israel with the highest award for non-Jews. These individuals’ stories are now being presented in an exhibition curated by Yad Vashem remembrance centre. The exhibition will be shown at the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a large number of Israeli embassies and the Federal Foreign Office.

The exhibition will be on view in the Atrium of the Federal Foreign Office until 26 February. It is open to the public from 10.00 a.m. until 7.00 p.m. on weekdays. Admission is free of charge.
