Welcome
Federal Foreign Office with regard to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA)
With regard to the statement of the High Representative of the European Union Borrell regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA), a spokesperson of the Federal Foreign Office declared today (04.07.):
The Federal Foreign Office has taken note of the statement by EU High Representative Borrell in his capacity as coordinator of the Joint Commission of the JCPoA, dated 3 July, in which he refers to a letter from the Iranian Foreign Minister regarding the implementation of the JCPoA.
Together with France and the United Kingdom, we reaffirm our full commitment to the preservation of the JCPoA. As E3 we have fulfilled our JCPoA commitments without exception, in particular the lifting of sanctions. In our efforts to preserve the nuclear agreement, we even have even gone beyond our commitments in order to maintain legitimate trade with Iran.
On January 14th 2020, we - together with France and the United Kingdom - initiated the Dispute Resolution Mechanism, in accordance with the JCPoA, so as to address and resolve Iran’s violations of key JCPoA commitments since July 2019. These measures, which Iran continues to implement, have grave implications for the non-proliferation goals of the JCPoA. Iran must return to full compliance with its JCPoA commitments without further delay.
As E3 we have initiated a dialogue with Iran and the remaining JCPoA participants based on a meaningful and realistic approach. We urgently await a constructive Iranian response to our efforts. We reaffirm once again our readiness to work determinedly to preserve the nuclear Agreement.
