A Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson issued the following statement today (11 April):
We are delighted that the Federal Government has made two important personnel decisions for German foreign policy today.
Dirk Wiese is set to become the new Coordinator for Intersocietal Cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and the Eastern Partnership Countries. He is succeeding Gernot Erler, who held this post from 2014.
Peter Beyer will be the new Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation in the Field of Intersocietal Relations, Cultural and Information Policy and is succeeding Jürgen Hardt, who was in this role from 2014.
We would like to thank Gernot Erler and Jürgen Hardt for their outstanding commitment to German foreign policy. We wish Dirk Wiese and Peter Beyer every success for their new posts and look forward to working with them.
