Minister of State Müntefering on Peter Limbourg’s re-election as Director General of Deutsche Welle
Michelle Müntefering, Minister of State for International Cultural Policy, as the Federal Foreign Office’s representative on the Deutsche Welle Broadcasting Board, today (28 September) welcomed Peter Limbourg’s re-election as Director General of Deutsche Welle:
Deutsche Welle stands for freedom of the press and diversity of opinion, and Peter Limbourg advocates successfully for both. In an age of disinformation and state propaganda, Deutsche Welle is more important than ever as a credible voice for liberal values. I look forward to our continued cooperation.
On Friday, 28 September 2018, the Broadcasting Board of Deutsche Welle unanimously re-elected Peter Limbourg as Director General for a further six years. Limbourg took the rein at Deutsche Welle in October 2013. Since then, his consistent course of modernisation has made Germany’s international broadcaster more relevant and expanded its reach.
