A Federal Foreign Office spokesperson issued the following statement today (15 March) on the situation for travellers in Morocco:
The Federal Foreign Office and the German Embassy in Rabat are working all-out with tour operators and our EU partners to enable German nationals in Morocco to return home. The tour operators are the initial point of contact for package-holiday tourists. We are working with tour operators to ensure that flights and ferry links are available to enable individual tourists to leave the country. We are also urging the Moroccan Government to help make this possible.
Travellers are requested to consult the websites of the Federal Foreign Office and the Embassy in Rabat on a regular basis for the latest information. Telephone hotlines can be reached by dialling 030/5000-3000 in Berlin or 00212 6 6114 7059 in Morocco. However, you may have to wait a long time before getting through due to the huge number of calls.
