Welcome

Statement by Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation Peter Beyer to mark the beginning of his visit to the United States

27.11.2021 - Press release

The Federal Government Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation in the Field of Intersocietal Relations, Cultural and Information Policy, Peter Beyer, is visiting Miami, New York and Washington from 27 November to 5 December 2021. He issued the following statement today (27 November):

One focus of this visit will be our close relations with Jewish organisations in the US. In Miami I will be opening the exhibition 1700 Years of Jewish Life in German-speaking Lands as part of the Miami Jewish Film Festival. And in New York, too, I will engage in talks on the future of cooperation with Jewish organisations as well as Jewish life in the transatlantic context.

The trip will also focus on the fields of business, trade, migration and integration. Thriving transatlantic trade, for example, creates jobs and prosperity on both sides of the ocean – a vital consideration particularly amid the economic uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

In Washington I will follow up on my meetings with numerous senior politicians, government officials and think-tank members. This will primarily involve talks on trade, the Western Balkans, security policy in the Indo-Pacific and scientific cooperation.
