Minister of State Annen to visit Qatar
Minister of State Niels Annen to visit Qatar today (4 September 2019)
The focus of the visit are political talks with his Qatari Counterpart State Minister Sultan Al Muraikhi on regional developments and on efforts to bring about a de-escalation in the Gulf region. After the talks, Niels Annen is to visit the German contingent at the headquarters of the Global Coalition against Daesh at the Al Udeid military base in Qatar to find out more about how Germany is contributing to the Global Coalition.
Prior to his departure, Minister of State Annen said:
On an almost daily basis now, we are hearing very worrying news from the Gulf region. I am travelling to Qatar today to find out more about the current situation on the ground and to talk to my Qatari counterpart about how we can together open the way for dialogue and help bring about a long-term de-escalation to the conflicts in the region. I will also talk about current developments in Afghanistan with the Qatari State Minister.
