On Monday, 27 August 2018, Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and his Canadian counterpart Chrystia Freeland will open this year’s Ambassadors Conference in the Federal Foreign Office.

The Conference, which continues until 31 August, will bring together the heads of mission of Germany’s 200 and more missions abroad, as well as diplomats from foreign embassies and a large number of high level representatives from the worlds of politics, business and culture.

The title of this year’s Conference is “Germany in the UN Security Council: two years of global responsibility”. Ambassadors will participate in a range of workshops and forums where they will discuss Europe, transatlantic relations and how to defend the multilateral rules-based order.
