Today, a German delegation met with senior representatives of the Taliban in Doha. In the talks, our delegation focused on the safe passage for Germans and Afghan citizens for whom Germany has a special responsibility, respect for human and especially women’s rights, the inclusiveness of the political and social process, as well as security-related issues and terrorist threats emanating from Afghan soil. The meeting took place in a professional atmosphere. With regard to future engagement, the German delegation reiterated that the German government will judge the Taliban by their actions and not by their words.
