Gernot Erler, Coordinator for Intersocietal Cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and the Eastern Partnership Countries and Special Representative of the Federal Government for the OSCE Chairmanship, will visit Moscow and St Petersburg from 10 to 16 July.
Erler issued the following statement on his trip:
We need to work with Russia to find solutions to the many conflicts raging in our neighbourhood – in Syria and Libya and in the fight against international terrorism. However, this will only be possible if lost trust is rebuilt and if Russia accepts the European peace order. Territorial integrity and the peoples’ right to self-determination remain the fundamental tenets of this order.
