It is good news that the Front National lost the elections. Nevertheless, the rise of right-wing and extreme right-wing parties in Europe fills me with great concern. A return to nationalisms is the last thing that we need in Europe today. It not only poisons the political climate and stirs up hatred and discord between people, but also prevents us from finding solutions to the urgent challenges facing Europe today. We need – especially in these difficult times – a Europe that stands together and acts according to the principle of solidarity.
