Foreign Minister Steinmeier on Hamburg’s successful bid to host the 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships
In the wake of the announcement of Hamburg’s successful bid to host the International Boxing Association (AIBA) World Boxing Championships, Federal Foreign Minister Steinmeier issued the following statement today (13 October) in Berlin:
This award is a great achievement for Hamburg and reflects the high reputation the Hanseatic City enjoys in the sporting world. The decision is a good omen for Hamburg’s bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
The International Boxing Association (AIBA) took the decision to award the World Boxing Championships to Hamburg on 13 October 2015 in Doha/Qatar, where this year’s World Championships are under way until 15 October.
