Anti-corruption reforms in Iraq
German Foreign Minister Steinmeier issued the following statement today (11 August) on the unanimous vote of the Iraqi Parliament in favour of the anti-corruption package of Prime Minister al‑Abadi:
I congratulate Prime Minister al‑Abadi on the adoption of his brave reform project by the Iraqi Parliament. Restoring trust in state institutions amongst all parts of Iraqi society is the only way to achieve enduring success in the fight against the ISIS extremists and to bring more stability to Iraq and the region.
Germany will continue to lend its support to Prime Minister al-Abadi’s Government for its reform policy and its fight against ISIS.
