Foreign Minister Steinmeier comments on German-Greek relations
After meeting Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias in Berlin on the evening of 22 March, Foreign Minister Steinmeier issued the following statement:
We must not allow the undoubtedly large and difficult issues which we have to answer together in Europe to undermine the strong basis of German-Greek relations. Together we should undertake to tap the great potential that lies in close cooperation between Germans and Greeks and to foster mutual understanding.
We have agreed to jointly take stock of the bilateral relations between Germany and Greece and to discuss how they can be further developed in the future.
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias visited Berlin on 22 March at the invitation of Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The two foreign ministers had dinner at the Federal Foreign Office with a small group of guests.
