Foreign Minister Steinmeier on his trip to Nigeria
Foreign Minister Frank‑Walter Steinmeier issued the following statement in Berlin today (26 October) before departing for Nigeria:
Laurent Fabius and I want to discuss the urgent problems in the region with the Nigerian Government. These problems affect us in Europe as well.
Nigeria deserves our full support in the fight against the brutal, inhuman terrorist activities of Boko Haram. Islamist terrorism in the region, also beyond Nigeria’s borders, requires a resolute, coordinated response.
Nigeria has so far been able to contain the spread of Ebola. We will be talking about what more we can jointly do to treat Ebola patients in the affected countries, to conquer the virus there and to prevent its further spread.
