Foreign Minister Steinmeier congratulates new President of the European Commission Juncker
Federal Foreign Minister Steinmeier issued the following statement today (15 July) on Jean-Claude Juncker’s election in the European Parliament as the new President of the European Commission:
I would like to congratulate Jean-Claude Juncker, and I am pleased that he received so much support from the European Parliament.
Jean-Claude Juncker has obtained a convincing mandate enabling him to work, in the coming years, for a strong Europe that is close to the people. That is a very demanding task.
Jean-Claude Juncker has our full support in this endeavour.
