Welcome
Honouring resistance fighter Ilse Stöbe
Foreign Minister Steinmeier will hold a ceremony at 11.00 a.m. on Thursday, 10 July, in honour of Ilse Stöbe, who worked for the Foreign Office and whose name will be added to the ministry’s commemorative plaque.
Ilse Stöbe and her superior, Rudolf von Scheliha, fought against the National Socialist regime as members of the communist resistance. These activities cost Ilse Stöbe her life. She was executed in Plötzensee in December 1942.
The honouring of the former Foreign Office employee is an important step in the Ministry’s endeavours to come to grips with its past. Members of the German Bundestag and of the Commission of Historians will attend the ceremony.
