Foreign Minister Steinmeier condemns killing of Palestinian teenager
Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier issued the following statement in Berlin today (3 July) on the murder of a Palestinian teenager near Jerusalem:
I condemn this abhorrent crime in the strongest possible terms. Our thoughts are with the family of Mohammed Abu Khdair. We share their pain and their grief.
Nothing can justify the murder of innocent people. I welcome Prime Minister Netanyahu’s announcement that he has ordered a swift investigation into the incident, find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Cooperation between Israeli and Palestinian authorities is now more important than ever. All parties must contribute to easing tensions to avoid a further escalation of violence.
