Markus Löning: Germans taking a keen interest in Syria’s fate

11.09.2013 - Press release

Federal Government Human Rights Commissioner Markus Löning said the following to the refugees arriving at Hanover airport from Syria today:

Many Germans are taking a keen interest in what is happening in your country. We are doing our best to help those who have fled. It is nonetheless terrible to see events unfold in Syria and the suffering this entails. We want to do our bit to ease that suffering. I hope you can now partake of some peace and quiet, and that your children can enjoy the prospect of going back to school and returning to some sort of ordinary life.
