09.09.2013 - Press release

On Monday, 9 September, State Secretary Harald Braun and his Indian counterpart Sujatha Singh co‑chaired a meeting of the German‑Indian High Technology Partnership Group (HTPG) at the Federal Foreign Office. The group aims to further expand trade and cooperation on high technology between Germany and India. The two sides discussed possible approaches for cooperating in important fields of technology, basic export control issues, cooperation on questions related to international non‑proliferation regimes, as well as the continuation of their talks in a larger forum that will also include the various competent ministries and industry representatives. This meeting is now planned to be held in New Delhi in the first half of 2014.

Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and Indian Prime Minister Singh had agreed to boost trade, deepen cooperation on high technology, and establish a bilateral high technology partnership group at the second German‑Indian intergovernmental consultations on 11 April 2013.
