Foreign Minister Westerwelle talks on the phone to UN disarmament expert Angela Kane
Foreign Minister Westerwelle spoke on the phone today to Angela Kane, the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs.
During the conversation, Angela Kane briefed Foreign Minister Westerwelle on the agreement struck with the Syrian Government which will allow UN inspectors to investigate the allegations concerning the use of poison gas.
Federal Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement:
This is a crucial agreement in a dramatic situation. I welcome the news that an investigation is now to start immediately.
