Foreign Minister Westerwelle today phoned Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss the current situation in Syria.

During the conversation Foreign Minister Westerwelle stressed the urgent need for United Nations inspectors to investigate the accusations that poison gas has been used in Syria. It was vital, he said, for the inspectors to be granted access to the site of the attack immediately.
