Administrative Agreements with US and Britainconcerning the Law to Implement Article 10 of the Basic Law terminated
In Berlin today, the German Government concluded the termination of the Administrative Agreements of 1968/69 with the US and Britain concerning the Law to Implement Article 10 of the Basic Law via an exchange of notes. The Administrative Agreements with the US and Britainthus ceased to be in force by mutual agreement.
Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement on this today (2 August):
“The termination of the Administrative Agreements, for which we have been pressing during the last few weeks, is a necessary and right step in the light of the recent debates on the protection of privacy.”
