Foreign Minister Westerwelle shocked and saddened by earthquake in China
Foreign Minister Westerwelle issued the following statement in Berlin today (20 April) in response to the earthquake in Sichuan province in China:
I am shocked and saddened by the news of the severe earthquake which has struck Sichuan in south-west China, causing great injury and claiming many lives. Our sympathy goes out to all those victims and their families.
Germany stands ready to help should the Chinese authority wish us to do so.
