Foreign Minister Westerwelle: Action against NGOs in Russia very disturbing
The Federal Foreign Office Spokesman issued the following statement today (22 March 2013) concerning the many searches carried out by state authorities in the offices of NGOs in Russia yesterday:
Foreign Minister Westerwelle is very disturbed by this action against civil society and non-governmental organizations in Russia.
Of course, our partnership with Russia also includes the expectation of respect for and fair treatment of civil society and non-governmental organizations.
Concerted campaigns that limit the ability of non-governmental organizations and civil society to act are unacceptable from our point of view.
